Sonic Spaces

Sonic Spaces

Is a self-organizing virtual platform engaging with sound-related artistic and researc projects across Egypt and the Arab world.

With the aim of creating a participatory archival space for sound and sonic landscape art and research, Sonic Spaces is reaching out to multidisciplinary artists and researchers who actively work with or critically address sound, as a medium or concept, throughout their practices.

Vision

Functioning as a documentative and developmental archival space, the platform’s goal is to conduct comprehensive interviews with applicants and provide them with a space where conversations and collaborations can sprout.

Sonic Spaces is interested in projects revolving around sound or audio in general; sound making/sculpting, soundscape maps or projections, audio-spatial installations, as well as projects addressing the relationship between infrastructure, space, and sound. Performances, script or audio writing in all their performative and/or narrative forms, experimental instrument makers or players, sound performers/collectives, experimental voice performers, and radio art(ists) are also welcome. The platform aims to engage with more experimental projects addressing sound as well; be them experimental sound productions, or research writing in the fields of anthropology, sociology, cultural studies, deaf studies, architecture or any other field that directly or indirectly works with either the concept of sound in general, or sound studies as a field.
